CHARACTERS CHARACTERS Hans: he comes from Iceland . He s strong and very quiet. Professor Otto Lidenbrock: he s a science teacher at Johanneum, a school in Hamburg. Grauben: she s the daugther of a good friend of Professor Lidenbrock . Axel: he lives and works with his uncle, Professor Lidenbrock, because his mother and father are dead.
The secret message The secret message On May 24th 1863 Professor Otto Lidenbrock comes home with a wonderful book , he shows to his nephew. In the front of this book it is written Arne Sarknussem s name, an old Icelandic scientist. Then they find an old and dirty paper in the book that is a secret message but they can t understand it. Suddenly Axel reads the message because it s backwards. Professor reads the secret message too, that is go down into the crater of Snaefells before the last day of June, when the shadow falls across it, you can go to the centre of the earth .
The Journey The Journey At half past five the next morning, Professor and Axel leave for Iceland . After they take a train and they arrive in Copenhagen the Lidenbrock finds a ship. They sail across the sea to Iceland. On the 13th of June they arrive in Reykjavik. When they get off the ship, they can see a mountain: Snaeffells! The day after, they meet Hans Bjelke, who become their guide. next day. There
One week later, they are near Snaeffells. Professor Snaeffells has two tops and they are going to the top of Scartaris. When they arrive at the top of Scartaris they are cold, hungry and very tired. Then the three men begin to go down into the crater. The that says
After some days they are two hundred kilometres south-easth of Snaefells. They re in front of a big underground sea. Hans makes a raft. When the raft is ready, they put their luggage on it and begin to underground sea. Suddenly two sea monsters come out of the water and they re fighting. Hans quickly sails the raft away from them. At last they are back on land. sail across the
The end The end They go through some big tunnels. Finally they arrive in Sicily and they can see Etna. When they come back to Germany, Axel marries Grauben. And they lived happily forever.
