Life & Legacy Update
We were notified by the Jewish Federation PMB that JCFGM will receive a $7500 allocation for Life & Legacy initiatives and workshops.
Amy is holding one-on-one meetings with Greater Mercer partners this summer, outlining priorities for the year-ahead and reviewing the High
Holiday Bootcamp Check-List.
Linda & Amy led an in-person workshop for West-Central partners at Temple Sholom in Bridgewater; they focused on High Holiday marketing,
recognition and stewardship L&L efforts.
Amy completed reporting to the HGF Foundation for L&L Plus Year 2 (where Mercer achieved 29 new Promises). We have since received the HGF
matching grant of $45,000 and are putting incentive grants directly into partner legacy funds held at JCFGM.
Individualized L&L High Holiday ads were designed and distributed to each partner org.
Two L&L workshops are being planned for 2024-2025; one will feature new L&L National Director Kathy Sarlson leading a session on Formalizing
Promises. Kathy will soon replace Arlene Schiff as the HGF community consultant for Greater Mercer. (Arlene is expected to retire by year end).
FY25 realized Promises to date: $64,688 is the aggregate for our community partners. All the funds will be invested in the partner Life & Legacy
Funds at JCFGM

Investment committee

The Investment committee met on June 17, 2024
The portfolio review pointed out:
Our actively managed International fund, the Vanguard Core Stock Fund Admiral Shares has done very well and has contributed to our overall
performance since adding it to the portfolio in April 2023.
The bond portfolio has detracted from performance as our bond portfolio ( a mix of short-term and long -term government bonds has
underperformed the bond benchmark ( the Bloomberg US Aggregate Bond Index )since making a change in September 2023.
The transition within Mercer should be completed in the period from March 2025 to September 2025. Right now, we continue to rely on Vanguard
for reporting purposes.
The prospective Conservative and Aggressive portfolio options have been put on hold. FidTech charges $6000 per year for each option irrespective
of the asset level. We would be open to adding one or both of those options if we had a specific large enough request from our fund holders.
Performance of the portfolio ( net of Mercer/Vanguard and mutual fund fees) through the end of July 2024 exactly matches the benchmark on a
year to date basis (8.69%)and is slightly ahead of the benchmark (7.83% vs. 7.75 annualized) since the transition to Vanguard 0n 6/30/2020
Investment committee members: Harvey Fram, chair – Scott Shaefer, Michael Manning, Jerry Neumann, Marty Schwartz, Alex Simanovsky West
Central representatives: Michael Saul and Geoff Feinstein

Marketing committee

Marketing committee Susan Falcon and Michael Feldstein met on Aug. 12, 2024 with Paul
Schindel, our marketing consultant and Amy Zacks
The staff will be reviewing our prior marketing efforts to see what initiatives worked and what
initiatives did not yield benefits to JCFGM- DAF’s, Legacy promise etc. and report back to the
committee
The committee discussed the Annual report that will be sent to our email list – deciding on
what information could make an impact. As an example, focusing on funds sent to recipient
agencies. The annual report will be completed in September.
The Foundation staff continues to post messages about the work on social media – it is most
helpful when board members share.
