Run-On/Fused Sentence Examples 1. The dogs always bark whenever I walk past then on the street as they smell my dog s scent in the air when I round the corner of my block to greet them every morning. 2. Today was a great day because the sun was shining birds were chirping in the sky flying through the cool morning air going about their day.
Comma Splicing Examples 1. Today was a great day, because the sun was shining, birds were chirping in the sky, flying through the cool morning air, and going about their day. 2. The world is changing, climate change is affecting the daily lives of many people for the worse, but there is a ray of hope that can save humanity from itself.
Your Turn! 1. Write down what you believe is run-on sentence. 2. Next, try to replace sections into commas where you think the reader needs to pause and reflect. 3. Final fix all of the comma splices to make them complete sentences for the idea to flow better for the reader to understand.
