Focus of the surveys were particularly on employment
and wage data
 
 
 
Issued by SCCI to capture data on the impact of
COVID-19 on businesses and their employees
Data was intended to support SCCI Government
submissions for assistance to the private sector
The largest contributors by sector were
Accommodation and Food Services (26%),
Business Services (19%) and Personal Services
(16%)
56% of respondents were SME’s with a workforce
of fewer than 10 employees
 
 
 
Key findings:
Close to 80% of all business respondents remained
open with 57% of those businesses needing to make
changes to staffing
84% of respondents indicated that their employees
wages were impacted partially or entirely
Lack of public transportation greatly impacted the
number of workers available
If SOE continues, 70% of respondents anticipate no
longer being operational within 1 month

The largest contributors by sector were Hotels and
Accommodations (18%), Food Services and other
Tourism Providers (18%) and Retail (13%)
61% of respondents were SME’s with a workforce of
fewer than 10 employees
 
 
 
 
Key findings:
158 businesses having to have redundant staff as an
operational response to COVID-19
133 business having staff take voluntary or involuntary LWOP
Most vulnerable age group for redundant and LWOP staff
were between ages 20-40 years old
Staff redundancy increased by over 50% in March
Staff LWOP figures tripled in March and remained consistent
throughout the month of April
 
These findings compared to data gathered in
Survey 1 suggest that business conditions have
worsen due to COVID-19
