Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a cutting-edge treatment that involves providing oxygen in a pressurized environment to enhance oxygenation of body tissues beyond what red blood cells can deliver. This therapy, administered under controlled conditions, offers various physiological and cellular benefits, making it a trusted method to boost oxygen levels in all organs. By increasing tissue oxygenation, HBOT promotes healing, reduces inflammation, enhances brain tissue oxygen levels, inhibits cell death, and supports tissue metabolism. Learn how HBOT works, why it is effective, and its positive impact on various biological processes.

  1. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for TBI Eleanor P. Womack, MD Medical Director

  2. Our Team Eleanor Piel Womack, MD is the Medical Director of Westlake Medical Arts, Board Certified in both Internal and Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine. Former Staff Oncologist at City of Hope Cancer Center in Duarte, California. Functional Medicine practitioner for the last eight years. Also Medical Director for ATX Hyperbarics, Austin s only standalone middle pressure Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Clinic. Harvard College and Harvard Medical School graduate. Mother of nine children including a set of triplets and a set of twins. Our Financial Operations are managed by Clay H. Womack, a senior executive with over 30 years of investment banking and asset management experience .

  3. Our Facility Austin s only standalone mid pressure hyperbaric clinic treating off label by prescription, 3 hard side chambers in current facility, treating from 1.3 ATA to 2.0 ATA Opened 9.15.15 treated 270+ patients to date No negative outcomes to date Multiple practitioners in Central Texas referring patients for autism, mold toxicity, stroke recovery, concussion, plastic surgery wound healing acceleration, etc. Open 7:00 am to 8:30 pm Monday thru Saturday

  4. Introduction to Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Oxygen is the human body s primary fuel accelerant. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy ( HBOT ) is the medical use of oxygen in a pressurized environment, at a level higher than 1 atmosphere absolute (ATA). Increased pressure allows oxygen to dissolve and saturate more effectively in the the blood plasma where it can be carried to the tissues independent of hemoglobin and red blood cells. This increased access to oxygen yields a broad variety of positive physiological, biochemical and cellular effects. This non-invasive therapy is the most trusted way to increase oxygen levels to all organs of the body. Basic Gas Physics. Gas under pressure goes into solution. The typical treatment lasts for 60-90 minutes and one session increases the oxygenation of the blood system by 50%.

  5. How HBOT Works Mechanism for Healing:

  6. Why HBOT is Effective Oxygen molecules carried by red blood cells can only get 51 microns into the tissue HBO can put Oxygen 273 microns into tissue (over 5 times deeper) that would otherwise not get perfused

  7. Inhibits? neutrophil? adhesion? to? endothelium? cells Decreases? IL-8,? TNF- ? and? MMP-9;? increase? IL-10 Reduces? inflammation Enhances? Nrf2? and? HO-1 Inhibits? the? expression? of? TLR4? and? NF- B HBO Increases? brain? tissue? p02 Inhibits? apoptosis Induces? Bcl-2? and? Bcl-xl,? decreases? Cas-3 Inhibits? permeability? of? mPTP Decreases? endothelin,? improves? blood? velocity;? improves? tissue? metabolism Reduces? ICP Promotes? neurogenesis? and? angiogenesis Wnt,? HIFs,? cAMP? and? CREB

  8. Neurons require high energy to function as Neurons Hard to get even more oxygen for repair

  9. Why Use HBOT? HBOT is the only proven proactive mechanism to regenerate new brain tissue After 20 hours, patient may have up to 800% more circulating stem cells to help with healing Safe & Effective Financially Prudent. Every bit of patient improvement decreases long term costs logarithmically

  10. Insurance Reimburseable Conditions Necrotizing soft tissue infections Osteomyelitis Delayed Radiation Injury Compromised Skin Grafts and Flaps Thermal Burn Injury Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss HBOT is used on-label for: Air or Gas Embolism Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Gas Gangrene Crush Injury Decompression Sickness Arterial Insufficiencies Severe Anemia Intracranial Abscess

  11. Standard of Care in many other countries Inflammation Reduction Cancer Treatment Enhancement Diabetes Control Athletic performance enhancement Cosmetic surgery recovery enhancement IV therapy efficacy enhancement HBOT is used off-label in USA for: Concussion Recovery, PTSD, TBI Enhance Stem Cell Activity Neurological Function Enhancement Cerebral Palsy Autism Stroke Prevention & Recovery

  12. Our Patient Population 270+ Patients served in last 24 months, no negative outcomes Autism 2% MS 1% Brain/Neuro 16% Neuropathy 4% Cancer 5% Surgery/Injury 20% Fatigue 7% Wellness 24% Gastrointestinal 9% Lymes Disease 6% Mold 8%

  13. Our Commitment to Excellence ATXHyperbarics has membership in both the International Hyperbaric Medicine Association and the International Hyperbarics Association which function as education, trade and referral groups for HBOT clinics around the world in order to keep our staff on the front end of treatment technology We utilize the latest research to keep our treatment protocols up to date with the latest in science

  14. In Summary ATXHyperbarics can and has treated several types of neurological conditions: TBI, Concussion, Stroke and PTSD which have all been shown to improve with HBOT Outcomes are not uniform because the amount of healing depends on the injury the time elapsed since injury and the underlying health of the individual Oxygen + Time + Pressure = Healing
