  1. Ski Club Rules and policies for the SCCSD Ski Club

  2. This will cover the following Holiday Valley rules and adjustments of operation These are summarized here and the full documentation should be read by each member of the SCCSD Ski Club Rules regarding Transportation on SCCSD buses Rules and policies for the SCCSD Ski Club

  3. Holiday Valley Rules (summarized) Your Responsibility Code Your responsibility code is a set of guidelines to follow to help keep skiing and riding safer for you and others on the slopes. It is the job of the Holiday Valley Safety Patrol to educate guests about these rules, and enforce them if necessary. Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.

  4. Holiday Valley Rules (summarized) Personal Safety on the Slopes Common sense goes a long way! If it is cold, dress properly (including a hat), protect your face and take frequent breaks. At all times, carry ID and a phone number to call in case of emergency. If you're new to Holiday Valley, pick up a trail map. Ask any of our staff for directions, lift use or other information. Keep your equipment in good condition.

  5. Holiday Valley Rules (summarized) Ski & Ride With Caution & Common Sense Holiday Valley encompasses hundreds of acres of both gentle and steep terrain. Skiing and riding are exciting, challenging participant sports that often presents dangers and inherent risks. Some slopes and gladed areas are not groomed or equipped with snowmaking. While skiing, USE CAUTION and abide by the Responsibility Code and NYS Article 18. Remember, safe skiing and riding is everyone's responsibility; it's the law. Caution: Snowcats, snowmobiles and snowmaking may be encountered at any time and at any location in the resort. Be Advised: All marking devices are used by the ski area to inform you of the presence or location of a potential obstacle or hazard. These markers are no guarantee of your safety and will not protect you from injury. It is a part of your responsibility under Your Responsibility Code to avoid all obstacles or hazards, including those that are so marked.

  6. Holiday Valley Rules (summarized) Chairlift Safety Holiday Valley has a variety of uphill transportation including high speed quad chairlifts, quad chairlifts and conveyors. Be advised that you cannot board a lift unless you have sufficient physical dexterity, ability and knowledge to negotiate or to use such lift safely, or until you have asked for and received information sufficient to enable you to load, ride and unload the lift safely. You may not use a lift or any ski trail while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Here are some important things to know about chairlift safety... 1. While waiting in line watch how people are loading the lift. Ask the lift attendant if you have any questions. 2. Put away phones or game devices before getting on the lift. 3. If it's your turn to load but you're not ready, it's OK to miss a chair. 4. Sit back as far as possible in the chair and don't lean on the restraint bar. 5. If your pole or glove starts to fall from the chair, don't try to grab it. You can pick it up later. 6. At the top stand up and ski/ride down the ramp, then move out of the way so others can unload. Persons with disabilities are welcome to make use of Holiday Valley's chairlifts if they are able to do so safely. All customers may ask any lift attendant so slow down the lift so that they may more comfortably load the lift.

  7. Holiday Valley Operations (summarized) A Note on Face Coverings Face coverings are required at all times. You will need to wear a face covering in the lodges (including restrooms, rental and retail areas), in lift lines, on lifts, and whenever you interact with any of our employees. We recommend carrying an extra face covering. Base Lodges and Indoor Spaces Indoor space this season will be very limited and we re asking all of our guests to help by: getting ready at their cars (BUS) going straight to the lift Plan to operate out of your car (BUS) like it was your private base lodge. We have rearranged our lodges to reduce capacity in the dining areas by 50%. We are asking all guests to minimize the time that they spend indoors. to only access a lodge to warm up, grab a bite to eat, or use the restroom. Lodges will act more as a warming hut for skiers and riders We will monitor the space available in our dining areas and limit access if no seating is available. Table space is available only for guests who are dining. Guests may not leave any personal belongings in the lodge, except in a locker. We strongly recommend that you leave all possessions in your car (BUS)

  8. Holiday Valley Operations (summarized) Warming Huts The warming huts at the top of Cindy s and Champagne will be open this season with limited capacity. Chairlifts and Lift Lines Holiday Valley s eleven quad chairlifts will be loaded in a way that allows for physical distancing. Masks covering the nose and mouth are required in lift lines and while riding lifts. Our lift lines will be spaced to allow for physical distancing both front to back and side to side. You ll also notice increased signage to ensure a consistent flow of appropriately spaced traffic. Rentals If you plan to rent gear, please be prepared to wait in an outdoor queue as the capacity in the rental shop will be limited. Rental equipment, including helmets, will be sanitized between uses. Snowsports School We are pleased to offer private and group ski and ride lessons for ages three to adult. (Salamanca Ski Club has reserved lessons for all Ski Club members REQUIRED TO ATTEND) All snowsports students and instructors must wear face coverings during the lesson. Lost and Found Items such as skis and snowboards that are left behind will be sanitized and taken to our Lost and Found, located in the Guest Services Office at the Resort Service Center. Cell phones, wallets, jackets and similar items will be sealed in a plastic bag and taken to the Lost and Found.
