UESI PIPELINES 2021 CONFERENCE - Summary SUMMARY Welcome to UESI 2021 Pipelines Conference (30 minutes) Welcome and Introductions by Executive Director of ASCE Tom Smith who opened the conference with introductions and summary of the purpose and background of ASCE and UESI. He also introduced Dennis Truax, the new president of ASCE. Dennis Truax Ph.D., P.E., D.GE, Dist. M. ASCE. Professor of civil engineering and director of National Geotechnical Experimentation Site at Texas A&M University James T. White endowed chair, department head, and professor of civil and environmental engineering at Mississippi State University. director of the Mississippi Transportation Research Institute. ASCE s Board of Direction as a director and Society treasurer. faculty advisor to the Mississippi State ASCE Student Chapter for 26 years.
UESI PIPELINES 2021 CONFERENCE - Summary SUMMARY Welcome to UESI 2021 Pipelines Conference (30 minutes) Cochairs Jason Lueke Ph.D., P.E., M. ASCE, National Practice Leader of Trenchless Engineering for Associated Engineering, Conference Co-Chair Extensive expertise and specialized knowledge of trenchless design and construction from his experience as a consultant, university professor, and contractor. Provides technical and general engineering support across Canada in all of AE s offices, and coordinates the trenchless practice at AE including design, inspection and construction standards. Christine Malaka P.E., Director of Clean Fuels at ATCO, Local Co-Chair Alberta 30 years of experience in the natural gas transportation, distribution, storage, midstream, water energy infrastructure Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from University of Alberta. Introduced John Campbell, new UESI President.

He earned a BS in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the University of Texas, Dallas. President of Utility Engineering Surveying Institute :The events of the past year have given true substance to the concepts of resilience and sustainability. Applaud the tireless effort, flexibility and resilience demonstrated by the Pipelines 2021 Steering Committee. Thank you to all the sponsors. Pipeline Division EXCOM Chair Announced that ASCE has scheduled: an In-Person conference in Indianapolis, IN in 2022 an In-Person conference in San Antonio, TX in 2023 Pipeline Division activities and responsibilities include: Annual Pipelines Conference Technical Committee and Publications Webinars, On-Line Courses, Workshops, Articles, Newsletters, etc. Developed 30 plus manuals and new MOPS Published the monthly Pipelines Journal. Presented numerous industry awards. Presented awards / recognition to Members.
UESI PIPELINES 2021 CONFERENCE - Summary SUMMARY Welcome to UESI 2021 Pipelines Conference (30 minutes) Bechtel Engineering Excellence Award. Made annually to an ASCE Member who contributed to advancement of pipeline engineering Samuel T. Ariaratnam, Professor and Beavers-Ames Chair in Heavy Construction at Arizona State University Published over 300 technical papers. Chair of International Society for Trenchless Technology from 2010-2013 Chair of ASCE Pipelines Division from 2017-2018. In 2019, became seventh person to receive ISTT Gold Medal (highest award). Elected as Fellow of ASCE in 2015. Member of Canadian Academy of Engineering and the U.S. National Academy of Construction. Sam s message: Be a volunteer. Surround yourself with good people.

ASCE Dr. Anna Pridmore has 18 years of interdisciplinary experience: past Chair of UESI Pipelines Division EXCOM. Conference Co-Chair for the 2019 Pipelines Conference. UESI s Marketing and Membership Committee. Secretary for AWWA s C305 subcommittee. ASCE Pipeline Division Award of Excellence Sri Rajah, Ph.D., PE, GE, SE, Principal Engineer, ENV SP, F. ASCE Principal Engineer, Discipline Leader Seismic Analysis & Design at CDM Smith Dr. Rajah has over three decades of civil engineering experience: Over 50 tech. papers related to pipeline design. Chair UESI Standards and Publications Council, Chair of the PLI Technical Committee of UESI, and Chair of the Task Committee on Seismic Design of Buried Water/Wastewater Pipelines.
