  3. Ofsted 2012 Verbal Feedback Pupils are adamant they feel safe in school. They take responsibility for their own behaviour and manage themselves very well. They have strong emotional intelligence and empathy for each other. They have very good relationships with staff and there is a high level of trust between staff and pupils.   10. The application process Step 1 Your child sits the 11+ examination at one of the four grammar schools acting as test centres. Step 2 You receive the results of the test in October. Step 3 You complete the CAF, including any grammar school for which you wish your child to be considered. If your priority is for your child to attend a grammar school, you must place any grammar schools above non-selective schools in your order of preference. Responsibility Success Care

  11. The application process Step 4 Grammar schools supply test scores to the Local Authority. Step 5 Slough Local Authority coordinates all offers and allocates a place at the highest ranked (on CAF) school for which the child is eligible. Step 6 The home Local Authority notifies parents of allocation on the national offer day (1st March). If you are allocated a grammar school, the school will make a formal place offer. You must accept or decline the place directly with the school. Responsibility Success Care

Common Application Form Most commonly completed on line www.slough.gov.uk/admissions Parents living in Slough have six choices Other local authorities may vary Schools must be listed in your preferred order. Grammar schools must be ranked higher than non- selective schools. Check admissions policies carefully Responsibility Success Care

  13. Herschel Grammar School Admissions Policy Please read our Admissions Policy carefully, especially sections 5 and 6. All the Slough grammar schools policies are different. Allocation of our places (150 in Year 7). Only children who scored 111 or more are eligible for a place; Looked after children are allocated first Children scoring 111 or more who live within our catchment area. This is a four mile circle around the school. Nearest children allocated first. The rest of the children are ranked according to score and places remaining are allocated on rank order Responsibility Success Care

  14. Allocation of places Local Authority coordinates the process. If you live outside Slough, your home Local Authority sends the application information to Slough Borough Council. Pupils are offered the highest ranked school for which they are eligible and which has available places. All offers made on 1 March 2023 this is the national offer day. Responsibility Success Care

Getting to school Parents need to plan how they are going to get their child to school Herschel does operate some bus routes (see your information pack for details) You will have to pay for this service if you are interested We cannot run alternative routes or additional stops Places are not guaranteed and have to be applied for once you ve accepted a place at the school At induction evening in June we do arrange for parents to share contact information so that you can set up car shares etc. Responsibility Success Care
