Haverford Middle School Friday Family Meeting December 15, 2023
District Goals Social/Emotional Wellness o Students were able to personalize the concepts they learned from reading novels by applying them to their lives and everyday situations. Mindfulness Monday o Preparing Contemporary Citizens o Students learned communication and advocacy skills o Students emailed teachers about homework, tests, and grades in Advisory In social studies class, students learn and teach about the different types of government and what makes a society work. Putting together talks for the class. In math class, students applied concepts to real life events o o Diversity & Inclusion o As you read, Midnight at the polls (from a woman's point of view) People like Watsons go to Birmingham, Anne Frank, and Iqbal connect different points of view from around the world. Students who participate in athletic teams and the theater club provided assistance to their peers with special needs. They possess a deep understanding of inclusivity, leadership, empathy, kindness, and compassion. o

School Safety / Traffic Patterns Please be mindful of the staff and student foot traffic on and around our campus o Be alert o Follow the speed limit and traffic pattern o Be patient Parking spaces on campus are for staff Parking for families going to the main office are located on Darby Road where the flag pole is located Families are not permitted to drive through the bus lane to drop off students unless they have permission Families may drop off students in a safe location on Marthart Avenue, Golf Road, or Darby Road Students should cross Darby Road at that the crosswalk where the crossing guards are located
Daily Schedule Homeroom Students are admitted to the building at 7:30 AM, go directly to their locker, and then report to homeroom Students are required to be in homeroom at 7:50 AM for attendance Students should log onto CANVAS and their Email in homeroom before 7:50 AM Students should watch the Morning Meeting, which begins at 7:50 AM 7:50 - 8:00 1st Period 8:03 - 8:50 2nd Period 8:53-9:40 3rd Period 9:43-10:30 4th period (6th grade Lunch/Advisory) 10:33-11:20 5th Period (7thgrade lunch/Advisory) 11:23-12:10 6th Period (7th& 8thgrade lunch/Advisory) 12:13-1:00 7th Period (8thgrade lunch/Advisory) 1:03-1:50 8th Period 1:53-2:40
Absences / Early Dismissal Late arrivals o Students must report to the main office if they arriving after 7:50 AM o Students will provide a note to the main office when they enter school o Students need a late pass from the main office to enter your homeroom after 7:50 AM Absences o Families should email Mrs. Cianci (scianci@haverfordsd.net) if their child is going to be absent. Please detail the name of your child, grade, date of absence, and reason for absence Early dismissal o Early dismissal notes should be delivered by the student to the main office upon entering school / before they go to homeroom 8

Winter Sports Athletics Lindsey Smith, Athletic & Afterschool Activities Advisor o lrsmith@haverfordsd.net o Accessing support to engage All students trying out for a winter sport must be registered via FamilyID by their parents/guardian. o Part of the registration process is submitting Section 6: Certification of Authorized Medical Examiner (physical form). o All students interested in trying out for a winter sport MUST have an updated Family ID registration and PIAA Section 6 physical form dated 6/1/23 or later.
