Middle school daily routine includes arrival at 8:00 am, homeroom, classes, lunch, and dismissal at 2:45 pm. Students follow a structured schedule with specific locker access times. The school emphasizes behavioral expectations, completing work, and staying on task. Specials, such as art, FCS/STEM, health, PE, music, and Spanish, are offered weekly. Students are encouraged to be respectful, use appropriate behavior in various settings, and follow guidance from adults. Classrooms, bathrooms, recess, cafeteria, hallways, and assemblies have specific expectations for behavior.

  1. 6thGrade Orientation Welcome Students and Parents

  2. Typical Day in Middle School Arrive on the Middle School basketball courts by 8:00am. Students enter at 8:05am and go directly to their locker. They report to homeroom by 8:15am, where they will give lunch count, take attendance and listen to morning announcements. Students then report to 1stperiod. They have 2-3 minutes to go to their next class. After the first 4 periods (approximately 45 mins each) students report to lunch. After lunch/recess, students report to their final 3 periods. Students are then dismissed at 2:45pm.

  3. Lockers, Lunch, Recess Before Homeroom: Get books and materials for periods 1 and 2. After period 2: Students get books and materials for periods 3-4. After period 4, students get their lunch/recess items. **Students are NOT permitted to go to their lockers between lunch/recess** Students begin lunch at 11:45; they may begin going to recess at 12:00pm until 12:15pm. **Unlike elementary school, middle school students do NOT have 45 minutes for lunch/recess** After recess, students go to lockers to get books for periods 5,6 and 7. Students return to lockers after period 7 to prepare to go home.

  4. Courses / Schedule Homeroom is based solely on ABC order. (Mrs. Guest Room 326; Mrs. Becker Room 324; Mrs. Lucks Room 327) ELA: 2 periods (Mr. Lego) Core 1 Math: 2 periods (Mrs. Becker) Science: 1 period (Mr. McDevitt) Social Studies: 1 period (MrMcDevitt) Specials: 1 period per day = 5periods per week

  5. Periods of Specials per Week Art: 1 time per week (Ms. Waite) FCS / STEM: 1 time per week for year. (FCS: Mrs. Shaver; STEM: Mrs. Santini) Health: 1 time per week (Mrs. Vaughn) Phys Ed: 1 time per week (Mrs. Vaughn) Music/Spanish: 1 time per week for year. (Spanish: Mr. Stabilo; Music: Mrs. Egan)

  6. Agenda Book Program Goals: Students will __________. Complete homework Complete class work Stay on task Meet behavioral expectations presented in the PBIS matrices

  8. The Agenda Book Program: Process for Documenting Academic and Behavioral Performance. If a student does not meet the academic/behavioral goals listed above, they will receive a letter A or B in red ink in their agenda book. No homework, incomplete classwork, being unprepared, etc. are designated as academic marks ( A ). Minor insubordination, inappropriate language, harassment, uniform violation, technology violation, disruption and chewing gum are designated as behavior marks ( B ). If a student receives two (2) letter marks per day they will receive an office detention the following day. Detentions are held Monday-Thursday, so any detentions that result as marks given on Thursday or Friday will occur on the following Monday. Detention will be served from 2:50-3:20pm in the Health room (107).

  9. If a student does not receive any letter marks in a day they will earn a thumbs up in their agenda book during last period. If a student receives 80% or more days of thumbs up they will be eligible for any PBIS reward trips or special school activities (Hershey Park, field day, etc.).

  10. What would we like to accomplish? Improve academic performance Track homework Improve time management Improve organizational skills Monitor behavior Encourage accountability Monitor progress/success Improve home and school communication Improve attendance and promptness to school

  11. What are parental responsibilities? Parent involvement is a vital part of success of these programs. Parents are encouraged to review the agenda book each night. Questions, concerns, and suggestions are welcomed!

  13. Grading and Honor Roll All subject areas receive a numeric grade, including special area classes. Distinguished Honor Roll: All A s. Honor Roll: Combination of A s and B s. Breakdown: A= 90 -100 B= 80 - 89 C = 70 -79 D= 65 - 69 F = below 65

  15. Students are Dismissed to Homeroom and will be Ready for Pick-Up at 2:45pm
