Establishment of GESI committee's (committee to have at least quarterly meetings) 4. GESI sensitisation and mainstreaming sessions conducted for all staff (capacity building and awareness) 5. Internal workplace policies developed to address cross cutting issues (eg. Gender Based Violence Policy, HIV/AIDS policy etc.) 6. Establishment of GESI helpdesk and referral pathways (case management, monitoring and evaluation) 7. Ans: The NPS GESI policy covers women, men, persons with disability (PWDs), elderly and children Rise Up, Step Up, Speak Up Department of Personnel Management What are the qualifications of a GESI officer? Ans: BA in social works preferably or equivalent Only women can be appointed as GESI officer? Ans: The appointment of a GESI officer to a GESI position is based on qualification & merit. Ans: GESI positions are to be created on Gr.16 and Gr. 14 respectively in accordance with CI 8 of 2014 Rise Up, Step Up, Speak Up Department of Personnel Management Why should GESI positions be located in the Office of the Executive/Departmental Head s office? Ans: To avoid bureaucratic system tapes where most perpetrators are those in decision making positions. Facts from credible sources indicate men as perpetrators as opposed to women.
