Gender Equality in Sustainable Development Agenda
Gender equality is a central theme in the new Agenda for Sustainable Development, driving changes across various targets and serving as a key connector across SDGs. The UN emphasizes the multiplier effects of gender equality on sustainable development and mandates gender mainstreaming in all programs and policies. The focus on gender parity, women's empowerment, and collaboration to mainstream gender in UN initiatives underscores its importance in the reform process. Various drivers and entry points for gender equality, including UN leaders as champions, accountability instruments, and the UNSDCF, highlight the commitment to promoting gender equality within the UN system.
