Scripture texts: James 1:13-16; Romans 8:1-13
1, KNOW YOU ARE FREE FROM THE POWER OF SIN Romans 6:6,14 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
2, USE THE WORD IN RELATION TO YOUR AREA OF WEAKNESS Psalm 119:9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.
2, USE THE WORD IN RELATION TO YOUR AREA OF WEAKNESS Proverbs 12:19 The truthful lip shall be established forever, But a lying tongue is but for a moment.
2, USE THE WORD IN RELATION TO YOUR AREA OF WEAKNESS Proverbs 8:7 For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
2, USE THE WORD IN RELATION TO YOUR AREA OF WEAKNESS Ephesians 4:25 Therefore, putting away lying, "let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another.
3, WALK IN THE SPIRIT AND CRUCIFY THE FLESH Galatians 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
3, WALK IN THE SPIRIT AND CRUCIFY THE FLESH Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
3, WALK IN THE SPIRIT AND CRUCIFY THE FLESH Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
3, WALK IN THE SPIRIT AND CRUCIFY THE FLESH Galatians 5:24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
3, WALK IN THE SPIRIT AND CRUCIFY THE FLESH Matthew 5:29-30 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

4, PUT ON JESUS AND MAKE NO ROOM FOR THE FLESH Romans 13:13-14 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
4, PUT ON JESUS AND MAKE NO ROOM FOR THE FLESH 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits."
How do we overcome the flesh? 1, Know you are free from the power of sin 2, Use the Word in relation to your area of weakness 3, Walk in the Spirit and crucify the flesh 4, Put on Jesus and make no room for the flesh
