Federal Sustainable Acquisition Policy Applicable contract actions shall require the use or supply of products that are: Energy-efficient Water-efficient Biobased Environmentally Preferable Non-ozone depleting substances Made with Recovered Materials* *Refer to FAR Subpart 23.1 for full policy

Applicable Federal Programs Environmental attributes in the policy are often associated with specific federal programs: Environmental Attribute Environmental Program(s) Energy-efficient Energy Star and FEMP Water-efficient WaterSense Biobased BioPreferred Environmentally preferable EPEAT, Safer Choice, SmartWay, NIH Substances of Concern, EPA recommended standards and labels Non-ozone depleting SNAP Made with recovered materials Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines

  4. EPA Interim Recommendations The GPC has been updated to include EPA s interim recommendations on specifications, standards, and ecolabels to use in identifying and procuring environmentally preferable products and services. These recommendations cover a variety of products, including electronics, furniture, and custodial products.
