  2. 10 / p.38 Reader s Bank Level 4 An interesting fish lives in the deep sea. It is called a viperfish. It has a very special way of hunting: it uses light. Many parts of its mouth can light up and glow in the dark. (A) When little fish see the beautiful, bright lights, they swim over to the viperfish s mouth. (B) When it opens its mouth, it looks like a Christmas tree. (C) Once they are inside its mouth, the viperfish shuts its jaw and swallows them. For the little fish, the light show is over; for the viperfish, a delicious dinner is served!

  3. 11 ? / p.40 Reader s Bank Level 4 Some famous people had unusual ways of sleeping. The famous painter, Leonardo da Vinci, slept six times a day. He slept fifteen minutes and then worked four hours. After that, he slept fifteen minutes again and worked four hours. He repeated this six times a day. In total, he slept only ninety minutes. Most people work during the day and sleep at night. You may think he felt very tired, but he didn t. He had no problem doing his work. Churchill used this way of sleeping, too. He slept less than four hours. Napoleon and Edison slept even less. But these famous men didn t get tired. Why? They took short naps many times a day, so they never got too tired.

  4. 12 , / p.42 Reader s Bank Level 4 Biking is a common means of transportation in the Netherlands. More than 36 percent of people bike to work or school. But this hasn t always been the case. In the 60s and 70s, most Dutch people used their cars to get around. After the oil crisis in the 70s, however, there was a campaign to ride (A) instead of (B) . The country is perfect for biking since its land is very flat. Fifty percent of the Netherlands is less than one meter above sea level. In addition, there are huge networks of bike routes and excellent bike parking spaces all over the country. So it is very easy to move around on a bicycle. This is why biking still remains amazingly popular in the Netherlands.
