Work Explore You can apply for jobs within the European Union when you are 18 years old. The EURES scheme connects you with employers across EU, Norway and Iceland. Thinking about a job in the EU institutions or another EU country? Each year, the EU offers paid traineeships to younguniversity graduates. Speak You can take part in youth events like the ones organised as part of the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE), the European Parliament's European Youth Event (EYE), and Your Europe, Your Say! at the European Economic and Social Committee. There, you can make your voice heard! Travel Study The border-free Schengen Area gives 400 million EU citizens free movement between countries. For instance, the INTERRAIL train pass allows you to reach over 40 000 destinations in 30 countries. You are entitled to study at any EU university under the same conditions as nationals of that country. The ERASMUS programme allows you to do part of your university studies abroad.
2023 is the European Year of Skills Promoting effective and inclusive investment in training and upskilling. Matching people's aspirations and skill sets to opportunities on the job market, especially in the green and digital transitions and economic recovery. What is the European Economic and Social Committee? (EESC)
What is the EESC? An advisory body set up by the Treaty of Rome (1957) Represents organisedcivil society Council of the European Union
What does the EESCs membership look like? 3 Groups 329 members (appointed for 5 years) from the 27 EU Member States 200 opinions per year Employers Employers Civil society Civil society organisations organisations Farmers, consumers, NGOs, youth, professions, disability organisations, academics, cooperatives Workers Workers Employers federations, Chambers of Commerce, SME organisations Trade unions
What is an opinion? The European Parliament, the Council of the EU or the European Commission can ask the EESC for recommendations regarding legislation on a particular topic. The EESC members, representingall 3 Groups, draw up a single document, called an opinion , on the proposed legislation. After a consensus is reached, the EESC opinion is sent to the EU institutions to be discussed and published in the EU s Official Journal (24 languages). The rapporteur presents key findings and promotes the opinion at EU, Member State and local level.
Your Europe, Your Say! (YEYS!) The EESC is hosting the 14th Your Europe, Your Say! youth plenary event. Every year, young people from all the EU Member States and the candidate countries take part in a debate on a topical issue relevant to them. After 3 years online, in 2023 YEYS! is back to an in- person event.
Youth Democracy Dialogues in Brussels #YEYS2023 23 - 24 March 2023 Brussels 35 secondary schools YEYS! 2023 s objectives : Raise awareness of the value of youth engagement in building strong communities and sustainable democracy Empower youth participation and foster active citizenship as pillars of participatory democracy Encourage critical thinking and community-building.
Youth Democracy Dialogues - what to expect Step 1. You will be given the necessary theoretical background in order to come up with suggestions to empower youth engagement. Step 4. You will draw up policy recommendations on how to build more engaged communities that lead to greater participatory democracy. Step 3. You will debate topics related to youth engagement and participatory democracy. Outcome Your recommendations will be presented to high-level EU officials at the plenary discussed at various events and occasions around Europe all year. Step 2. You will be divided into groups and take part in an interactive workshop. session and
YEYS 2023! & Culture Discover performing arts together! A unique cultural experience awaits participants at the closing YEYS! event. Culture and arts know no borders. A message can be spread via culture - that s the power of creation! A musical performance by Theater Navpaky from Poland. TheThere, out of sight musical play, directed by Oksana Terefenko, is a collection of stage songs that creates a complex show focused on democracy, social justice and peace.
What will you gain from this experience? You will have fun and inspiring exchanges with students from across Europe. Together with other students, you will find creative solutions engagement and strengthen participatory democracy. After YEYS!, you will also receive a YEYS! diploma. You will be able to share the education materials with your class, friends and family. to empower youth
