Incorporating symbolism and exaggerated features you will design and make a kiln watcher figurine. use modeling,carving, techniques. 8 to 12 high Finish with glaze or oxide wash
Create a low center of gravity. Make the bottom surface flat. A seated figure, or a an animal lying down, or in a sitting position Exaggerate the legs or support structure. For example make them wider at the bottom, make them thicker than normal. Make your creature from the chest up.

With a partner look at the example you have been given and identify the symbol(s) the artist used to portray protection. Identify the design attributes that are exaggerated in order to portray protection .
Use a pencil to draw 3 preliminary designs for your kiln watcher. Include the following in your design: 1. Exaggerated portrayal of physical features. 2. Emphasis on symbolism representing protection.
