1 million over 10 years for Kirk Hallam So, how do we know how to spend it?
We have spoken to over 600 people of all ages Looked at over 1000 responses to surveys and questionnaires
What is it like to live in Kirk Hallam now? 6417 people live here 40.7yrs is the average age 97.8% were born in the UK 2697 dwellings (35% mortgage, 30% owned, 33.6% rented) 764 households have children 193 households are single parents 72% Christian, 19% no religion 197 detached houses 1729 semi-detached houses 668 terraced houses 129 flats
What do we do for a living in Kirk Hallam? 37.1% full time workers 14.7% part time workers 5.1% self employed 5.1% unemployed (higher than 4.4% nationally) 153 households with kids have no adult in work higher than the regional or national average 1/3 work in manufacturing 16.5% work in wholesale or retail 7.6% work in transport or communications 10% work in health and social care 6% work in education
Too cool for school? Too cool for school? 15.6% 16 yr olds and over have achieved 5 or more A-C GCSE grades or equivalent 39.7% have no formal qualifications (this is higher than Erewash 25%, East Midlands 24.7% and National 22.5%)
Who has wheels? 887 houses (33.3%) have no van or car! (10% higher than the borough and national statistics)

What can the money What can the money improve? improve? 1.Things to do and places to go We should develop buildings we already have instead of building new. Build on community spirit and provide better places for young and old to meet up and socialise
What can the money What can the money improve? improve? 2.Access and environment create a nicer environment with less graffiti and dog mess. A caf , more places to eat, and an improved shopping area, with better disabled access
What can the money What can the money improve? improve? 3.Quality of life Give people somewhere to turn to when they are in financial difficulty. Community events to tackle drugs, poverty and managing money. A cinema club and youth groups to give us something to feel good about
What can the money What can the money improve? improve? 4.Education and training We want more after school facilities. Lets tackle the lack of apprenticeships and job opportunities. Provide clubs or workshops to inspire the next generation
