Classwork: Monday: Activity #1: All students will copy the terms and definitions for fiction and nonfiction found on pages 4 and 5 in the Prentice Hall Literature Book in the note taking section of your 5 subject notebook. Tuesday Activity #2: Begin to read The Baker Heater League by Patricia McKissack. Prentice Hall Book p. 7-10. Wednesday Activity #3: Read 11:59 page 13-20. Thursday Activity #4: Discuss the question in the Thinking About the Selection p. 22 # 1-6. Write the answers in the notetaking section of your copy book. Friday Activity # 5: Complete the quiz on both stories. MONDAY: 9/17/2018 OBJECTIVE: STUDENTS WILL READ A PIECE OF FICTION AND NONFICTION AND BE ABLE TO COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE TWO PIECES OF WRITING. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO DEFINE TERMS AND ANSWER COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS RELATED TO BOTH PIECES OF WRITING. Do Now: Read page 6 in the Prentice Hall Literature Book. Write down two facts Ms. McKissack talks about writing a piece of nonfiction. Ticket Out: Name a nonfiction piece that you have read that is your favorite. Homework: Vocabulary Words 20 Lesson 1A and B . Write each word 3xs each, give the part of speech, definition, synonym, antonym and a sentence for each.
