  1. KEY STAGE 3 ONLINE LEARNING UNDERSTANDING DRAMA Last term we focused on the genre of Murder Mystery. During this term we want to explore the wider skills required for drama and the various jobs that are available in the theatre industry. Throughout the term we will- Learn about Drama lessons in school Discover the skills needed to do Drama in school effectively. Learn about the various jobs available in the theatre (Theatre Makers). Please complete your work on a Powerpoint/Word document and email to your drama teacher- david.moore@astreadearne.org or gary.oliver@astreadearne.org Alternatively you can complete your work on paper and email photos of what you complete.

  4. Task: What SKILLS do you think Drama teaches you? Make a list on your Powerpoint / Word document in with the title: Skills in Drama. Push yourself and come up with the most extensive list you can! 10 minutes

  6. What is meant by the term Theatre Makers? Try making a list of Theatre Makers and, if you can, tell me what each of them do. I ll start you off with one: Actor the person you see on stage, telling the story of the play through characterisation and various other dramatic techniques.

  7. Choreographer Creates the dances or movement pieces for the performance and works with the cast to teach it to them. Director In charge of the whole production Designer In charge of all visual and aural elements of the performance. Lighting Designer Works with the designer to create the lighting for the performance. Musical Director In charge of the music in the performance and teaching cast the songs. Sound Designer works with the designer to create the soundtrack for the performance (microphones and sound effects) Stage Manager In charge of the backstage area making sure cast and crew are in position. Costume Designer works with the designer to create the costumes for cast to wear. Set Designer works with the designer to create the set for the performance.

  8. Choose ONE of the Theatre Makers from the previous slide. Using the internet or any other research tool, find out all their roles and responsibilities in the Theatre Making Process (don t copy and paste put it all in your own words). Create a Job Description for this person outlining all their duties in a performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. Finally list the SKILLS you think they will need to do their job well.
