School of Physics Graduation Requirements Graduation Requirements Universiti Sains Malaysia Graduation Requirements Graduation Requirements Students must fulfil the following requirements to graduate: Fulfill the minimum required residential requirements during the course of studies. Maximum 12 semesters (~6 years) Fulfill all the credit requirements (i.e., a total of 120 credits) of the course and required units for each component [Core, Elective, and University Courses]. Obtain a CGPA of 2.00 and above for Core Components. Obtain a CGPA of 2.00 and above for the program. Achieve a minimum grade C or a grade point of 2.00 for Bahasa Malaysia, English Language, Islamic and Asian Civilization and Ethnic Relations course.

School of Physics Universiti Sains Malaysia Course Types Course Types Minor Courses Students opt for doing major-minor are required to pass 16 or 20 credits of courses taken under the Minor area of specialisation and the remainder (14 or 10 credits) from the elective courses.
School of Physics Universiti Sains Malaysia Course Types Course Types University Courses Every USM student, irrespective of the program enrolled, must take up at least a total of 12 + 6 = 18 units university course in order to graduate. 12 units are compulsory courses, while another 6 units are to be chosen from a list of courses offered.

Compulsory for all 1st year program students except that from Geophysics, who will only take this course in the 1st Semester during their 2nd Year. 1. School of Physics Reminder Universiti Sains Malaysia Earning a credit unit means you must not fail a Earning a credit unit means you must not fail a course course To earn the units for a particular course, e.g., ZCA 110/4 (4 units), you must obtain a minimum of D- or above. If you get a grade F or F* , the units won t be counted in your accumulated credits In other words, since all core courses are compulsory, you have to earn at least a D- or better for all of them in order to graduate.

Adding of courses without valid reasons are not allowed. 1st week or a specific due date as stated by the School: without any penalty 2nd and 3rd weeks: with recommendation of dean/deputy dean, penalty of RM 50. 6.
