  4. Word of the Day Wednesday ponder (verb): think about something carefully Sample sentence: Jane found it depressing to ponder her future with a company soon to go out of business.

  5. Word of the Day Thursday sustainable (adjective): able to be maintained at a certain rate or level Sample sentence: We should strive to find a sustainable energy source to replace fossil fuels.

  6. Word of the Day Friday exert (verb): put to use; make a great effort at a mental or physical task Sample sentence: The doctor instructed me not to exert myself by lifting anything heavy after surgery.
