Says: “When children disobey their parents,
smoked cigarettes and made war on each
other the seasons would change”
Got trapped in Miss Maudie’s house when he
helped to remove furniture. He had to jump.
 
Old Mrs Radley
 
Died that winter of natural causes
 
Scout & Jem
 
Scout thought the world ended when she saw snow for
the first time
Jem thought Atticus was still touchy about answering
questions about Boo Radley
Took all the snow from Miss Maudie’s front yard.
Build a snowman that looked exactly like Mr Avery.
Jem placed Miss Maudie’s sun hat on the snowman to
disguise it.
Did not want to return the blanket for fear of what
Nathan Radley might do. Jem told everything about the
tree to Atticus.
 
Atticus
 
Visited the Radley house when Old Mrs Radley
died but did not see Boo.
Saw snow for the first time in his life.
Atticus said Jem would always be able to make
a plan.
Atticus ordered Jem to change the snowman
so that it did not look exactly like Mr Avery.

Maycomb’s  leading telephone operator.
She was entrusted with issuing public
announcements, wedding invitations, setting
off the fire siren and giving first aid
instructions when Dr Reynolds was away.
She announced there was no school on the
day of the snow
 
Calpurnia
 
Said the snow was sticking
Did not accept invitation to stay in big house
when it snowed, said her house would be
warmer.
 
Miss Maudie
 
Is very concerned about her plants dying of
cold from the snow.
She wrapped her plants in bags.
Miss Maudie’s house burnt down
Miss Maudie was not grieving about the
house, but planned to built a smaller one.
 
 
Arthur “Boo” Radley
 
Hung a blanket around Scout’s shoulders
during the cold.
