Ethics is about defining right and wrong, both
in theory and in practice, generally and in
specific circumstances.

While it is not an alternative to the law, it
informs laws as they are being drafted,
interpreted and/or revised.

It can also help guide people and
organizations in deciding whether or not to
act in an area where the law is contested.

Leadership is the ability to influence,
motivate, inspire and transform others to
achieve certain goals towards a vision.

It is the specific set of skills and attributes
which can be acquired through learning

It is all about the zealous action of a person
taking an initiative to bring a change, solve a
problem and accomplish the certain goals.

According to Wikipedia, a digital
environment is an integrated
communications environment where
digital devices communicate and
manage the content and activities
within it.
The concept is based on digital
electronics systems which are
integrated and implemented for a
global community.
Example of these digital systems
include cloud servers, search engines,
social media applications and other
mobile applications.

According to Gartner (a research firm), Digital
ethics is the system of values and moral
principles for the conduct of digital
interactions between businesses, people and
things.

Technology is changing how we reason, dialogue and
act.

It helps to reason on the logics between what is right
and wrong in an age of connected people and
computers.

It helps to reason on how to hold powerful tech
companies to account.

It helps to reason on which technology should be
developed and deployed in areas where the law
seems to be silent or disputed?

As at now, there is no agreement on what is
morally right and wrong in the development of
digital technology.
In 2018 the UN was unable to agree on whether to
open discussions on banning weapons controlled
by Artificial Intelligence (robots), demonstrating
how urgently a common digital ethics is now
needed. Ref

The internet is more centralized than ever, with a
handful of tech companies facilitating our online
interactions and determining our online activities
which inevitably has an impact on choice and
freedom of expression

Powerful Tech players
need to operate
within a clearer set of
ethical boundaries.

Most internet applications seem to be designed to
induce an unhealthy addiction. Nowadays, people
spend unwholesome number of hours in a week on
social media, thus increasing possible cases of
insomnia, depression and even suicide in some
vulnerable age groups.
Threat to data privacy with several digital solutions
out there mining and monetizing private data
without owners' consent (Facebook).
Threats to social unity are now enabled by digital
technology. Much more disturbing is the fact that
various social media have become willing tools for
the spread of fake news, propaganda and
incitement of violence against ethnic groups etc.

Auditors, Accountants and IT professionals are
generally held in high trust by the public. However,
trust though well earned could be fragile. Once
lost, it is very hard to win back and as such one
cannot afford to be complacent.
Using data privacy as an example, an accidental
release of people’s private data, can have severe
negative effects on the trust and confidence placed
on the data custodians.
Additionally Sharing data while keeping it secure
can be a hard balance to get right. It’s difficult to
ascertain if the organizations receiving the data
being shared will use it in the right way, or keep it
secure

Ethical leadership entails learning how to balance
client trust with professionalism.
It also requires overcoming the fear of failure and
creating an environment where it is safe to
innovate with data analysis, and where making
mistakes won’t compromise the security of the
data.
Ethical Leaders in the digital environment mostly
adopt the Agile leadership method which is
characterized by the ability to be calm in the face
of pressure, reacting to unique circumstances
effectively while being open to innovation
