Support of 2020 round population and housing censuses: ESCWA
Role of ESCWA - Promotes economic and social development of Western Asia through regional and subregional cooperation and integration. - Provides knowledge products and capacity-building for national systems. - Ensures coordination between various partners involved in statistical activities in the region. All of this is driven by Member States through mechanisms such as ESCWA Commission, Committee on Statistics and Technical Advisory Groups
Activities of ESCWA on Censuses Publications (2021-2022) - Assessment of GIS for the population and housing census in Iraq. - Assessment of GIS for the population and housing census and agriculture census in Sudan - Dissemination and use of data from population and housing census: emerging methods and lessons learned - Communicating population and housing census data: developing a user- centric communication strategy - Self-enumeration/response in population and housing census using the Internet with reference to Arab countries: opportunities, challenges and good practices - Measuring Sustainable Development Goals indicators through population and housing censuses and civil registration and vital statistics data
