Definition of Sexual Harassment Definition of Sexual Harassment Conduct on the basis of sex that satisfies one or more of the following: o a school employee conditioning education benefits on participation of unwelcome sexual conduct (quid pro quo) o unwelcome sexual conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, or abusive environment that is so severe or pervasive it prevents a student from fully participating in an educational program or activity ounwanted verbal or written sexual statements, graffiti, name-calling, and sexual advances in person or via phone, text or social media

  3. Our Responsibility Our Responsibility Based on this definition, schools must respond to sexual harassment that occurs in school education programs or activities, which includes locations, events, or circumstances over which the school exercised substantial control over the respondent and the context in which the sexual harassment occurred, whether on or off campus.

  4. District Contacts District Contacts Each district is required to identify a Title IX Coordinator and train additional personnel as investigators and decision makers.   5. Reports of Sex Discrimination or Sexual Reports of Sex Discrimination or Sexual Harassment Harassment Any person may report sex discrimination or sexual harassment to the Title Coordinator in person, via mail, email, or electronically. Any complaints will be thoroughly investigated and will adhere to the guidelines set forth in federal regulations.

Training Training oAll school personnel are required to participate in Title IX training. oThe following training modules were developed by the National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments, funded by the U.S. Department of Education s Office of Healthy Students. oThere are three required modules. After each module you will need to: Download the certificate Type your name and the date on the certificate Print the certificates Give all three certificates to your building principal

About the Modules About the Modules oAfter completing each module and printing out the certificate for that module, do not select Explore other Modules return to the slide show and select the link for the next module. oIn Module 3 it is only necessary to view the section that pertains to your grade level (elementary, middle, or high). After watching that section, you can continue with the rest of the module. oYou do not need to watch all three modules at one time.
