Enhancing California's Election Cybersecurity Readiness
California has taken significant steps to bolster its election cybersecurity readiness, including rigorous source code reviews, red team testing, and open-ended penetration testing. The state has visited fusion centers, engaged local election officials, upgraded technology infrastructure, and established dedicated cybersecurity and risk management offices. Essential partnerships with DHS, FBI, and other agencies have been forged to ensure election security. Voter engagement initiatives like VoteSure and proactive voter status alerts further enhance transparency and security. By continually learning, testing, and upgrading security measures, California aims to stay ahead in the ongoing race to protect democracy.

ELECTION CYBERSECURITY IS LIKE RUNNING A RACE WITHOUT A FINISH LINE. - MINNESOTA SECRETARY OF STATE STEVE SIMON It s not enough to keep up with nefarious actors who seek to undermine our democracy, we need to stay ahead. To do that, we must constantly be learning, scrutinizing, testing, and upgrading our security and that requires federal, state, and local entities to keep working together and to make the necessary investments.
