Simran @GeographiaUK #GAConf21 How I use: The GA Website How: Teaching Resources for, well, resources to teach with Journals to improve my CPD and share with my department Support and Guidance for a wide range of pedagogical knowledge, skills and content Get involved for student activities, or groups I can join Shop to purchase larger files/packs Search to type in a case study place/topic to find up to detail resources

  6. Simran @GeographiaUK #GAConf21 Why I use: The GA Website Why: A core resource for geography teachers Subject specific Large organisation with a huge range of expertise Approachable, knowledgeable and personable Several free resources Several paid resources Journals - GA and Teaching Geography

  7. Simran @GeographiaUK #GAConf21 How I use: Facebook How: I searched geography and joined the groups which took my interest I actively comment on posts in the groups I occasionally post a question or thought for discussion or share one of my own resources in the posts

  9. Simran @GeographiaUK #GAConf21 How I use: Schoology How: I was given a link and code from another teacher (shared on the Facebook group) I download resources - impeccable revision resources and useful schemes of work to support the early stages of planning I share my resources

I search #geographyteacher daily! Don t just follow high profile people because they have lots of followers. Follow them because you re interested in their ideas, discussions and resources

Simran @GeographiaUK #GAConf21 Why I use: Twitter Why: Free, accessible, quick Amazing, supportive geography network Sharing links, photos, questions, thoughts Learning from others and seeing other peoples discussions Liking other peoples content The wealthy and speed of ideas and resources are unfathomable

Simran @GeographiaUK #GAConf21 TAG s: Most recently I wanted to hear about other geography departments views about the Teacher Assessed Grades I wanted to create a network of schools to moderate with for our specification So I created a Microsoft Form link to share on social media to gather interest then hosted an online meeting for 1 hour 52 teachers registered their interest, 24 teachers completed a moderation task I sent out before, at 31 teachers attended the meeting

  16. Simran @GeographiaUK #GAConf21 Be brave Start your own blog Start thought provoking discussions Share a resource or idea Be active, be kind Don t be disheartened if your message/request gets ignored the internet is a big place!

  17. Simran @GeographiaUK #GAConf21 Be cautious Social media settings and privacy You ll get the best responses if your account is public but public means public! Think twice before you post language, photos, topics Professional teaching standards Would you want your current or future employer seeing this? Not everyone will agree with you or your schools views and some people may not shy away from publicly telling you! Remember you can log out or close the window at any time

Simran @GeographiaUK #GAConf21 Unsaid rules and general advice Politely asking for a resource don t just send your email address Saying thank you Showing gratitude Give back where you can Compliment one another Spread positivity in the community without this, why would anybody actively share? Don t criticise Be respectful every teacher/school is unique Use hashtags avoid tagging high profile people without an explanation
