  1. CARN 2022 National College of Ireland Changing Lives through Action Research and Living Educational Theory Research in Cultures of Inquiry Jacqueline (Jackie) Delong International Mentor

  2. I intend to share my learning as I create Cultures of Inquiry where we co-create knowledge as I encourage and support practitioner-researchers to create their own living-educational- theories. Each researcher who works with me researches their practice and publishes it, usually within a year. ABSTRACT With the question, How can I improve my practice? as intention to improve the social order, change lives and contribute to human flourishing, my paper contributes to CARN s theme of Changing Lives Through Action Research is available at: URL.

  3. Culture of Inquiry A safe, supportive space where individuals are enabled to make explicit their values and hold themselves accountable for living according to those values. They learn to recognize when they are not living according to their espoused values and are living contradictions as they create their own living-educational-theories (Whitehead,1989). Action-reflection cycles based on asking self-study questions like How can I improve my practice? Experience values such as loving kindness and loved into learning and recognition of their embodied knowledge. Includes spontaneous and sustained, micro and macro forms and living in satva (goodness). Said s (1993, p. xiv) idea that culture is a concept that includes a refining and elevating element, each society s reservoir of the best that has been known and thought. (Delong, 2002, 2020)

  4. Get permission to record; Record the dialogue Upload to YouTube on Private Download the transcript (3 dots at bottom right of video) Dialogue as research method with visual data: the steps Assign speakers to the transcript Determine which parts are useful for data Make short clips of those parts Get permission from participants to use in research paper Mark clips on YouTube as Public Insert into clips into paper with transcript as evidence to support claims to know. (Delong, 2022)

  5. Co-learning/Co-research: Loved into learning Figure 4. Michelle shares her enjoyment of the process of creating her own living-theory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzawRc48YgQ&feature=youtu.be January 27,2019, 12:35 to 13:04: I said [to Jean] I don t know if Jackie knew that she was going to tell me to do all these things along the way but it felt like she had the next step for me planned and was just waiting for me to get somewhere so that I could take the next step. Because had she told me everything up front, I might have been overwhelmed about the process but it was a very nice. (Delong, 2019)

  7. Parbatis influence on me

  8. A Living Educational Theory Research in Cultures of Inquiry: an approach to professional development I describe and explain how this approach to professional development using Living Educational Theory Research has evolved through my writings over 25 years. Finally, I advocate for the creation of living-educational-theories in Cultures of Inquiry, using dialogue as a research method with visual data for improving professional development for the future and for the flourishing of humanity. (Delong, 2022. Educational Journal of Living Theories 15(1): 43-66, http://ejolts.net/drupal/node/387)

  9. Significance Through values-based/embedded explanations, we are explaining the educational influences in learning of practitioner-researchers in Cultures of Inquiry. Our living-educational-theories are contributing to a global, social movement for the creation of a future with life-affirming, energy-flowing values of human flourishing, that mitigate and overcome the alienating power of inequities, violence and negative forces.

  10. Going forward to improve my understanding of Eastern Wisdom Traditions, their languages, concepts and images, be more vigilant about the impositional, colonizing nature of the Western Critical Tradition and the English language. to find ways to mitigate "epistemicide " (Santos, 2014) in other ways of knowing, and continue to research my practice for its improvement as well as mentoring others to do the same. I have submitted proposals for AERA in 2023. Jack Whitehead and I have written a book on supporting and supervising Living Educational Theory Research: You and Your Living Theory.
