Sorority and women’s hazing incidents are more likely to involve
psychological and emotional tactics known as
subtle hazing
•
Inappropriate nicknames
•
Pranks with chapter members/organizations on campus
•
Mandatory silent periods
•
Enforced member class ranking systems
•
Removing benefits of membership
•
Required secrecy about chapter activities and events
•
Mandatory participation from only certainly groups or classes of the membership
•
Encouraging members to participate in behavior that violates Alpha Chi Omega
or college/university policies or laws
Hazing Warning Signs
Social isolation from family and friends
Avoiding others outside of the group
Changes in physical appearance
Concerning comments on social media
Mood shifts
Lack of sleep or exhaustion
Skipping class
Running errands for other members
Wanting to drop the chapter without explanation
