  1. Motion Study Dairy Plant Management (DTT-421) A K JHA

  2. Motion Study Motion study is the systematic study of human motions used to perform an operation. The purpose is to eliminate unnecessary motions and to identify the best sequence of motions for maximum efficiency. Frank Gilbreth originated the concept in bricklaying trade. Av. no. of brick laid per hour increased 3 times

  3. Motion Study Techniques The most used techniques are: 1. Motion Study Principles 2. Analysis of therbligs 3. Micromotion study 4. Charts

  4. Motion study principles The work of Gilbreth laid the foundation of motion study principles, which are guidelines for designing motion-efficient work procedures. The guidelines are categories: Principles for use of body Principles for arrangement of workplace And principles for design of tools and equipment Work methods that are motion-efficient 1. Eliminate unnecessary motions. 2. Combine activities 3. Reduce fatigue. 4. Improve the workplace arrangement. 5. Improve the design of tool and equipment. divided into three

  5. Therbligs Therbligs are the basic elemental motions. The idea is to break jobs down into minute elements and base improvements on an analysis of these basic elements by eliminating, combining, or rearranging them. Some basic Therbligs are: Search: hunting for an item with hands and/ or the eyes. Select: means to chose from a group of objects. Grasp: to take hold of an object. Hold refers to retention of an object after it has been grasped. Transport load means movemet of an object after hold. Relaese load means to deposit the load

  6. Micromotion Study Frank Gilbreth andLlillian Gilbreth introduced motion pictures for studying motions, called micromotion study.
