Pressure Principles Pressure Principles PLAY FAST = BRING PRESSURE & KEEP IT SIMPLE *4 different types of Pressures - BUT use same Techniques! 4 man Pressure = DLine & LB Movements *Coaching Point = Base Defense uses SIMPLE 4-5-6-7 man pressures with all fronts & use same techniques 5 man Pressure = Single Backer Blitz *Teaching Point = DC will call 4-5-6-7 man pressures AND Players will make auto adjustments 5 man Overload = Zone Blitz & DB Blitz 6 Man Pressure = Multiple Backer Blitz *Coaching Point = DC can use Sugar (Bluff Blitz) OR Money (Show Blitz and GO) Show the Money 7 Man Pressure = Full House Backer Blitz PRESSURE GOALS Create multiple movements using Base Defenses! #1 DLine movement stunts & Backer movements Sugar bluff + Money show #2 Backer Pressure single & multiple backer blitzes #3 Overload Pressure zone blitz with peel & push players (Cover 33)

Pressure Rules & Responsibilities Pressure Rules & Responsibilities PRESSURE RULES with TRIPLE A Defensive focus and formula for SUCCESS! #1 ALIGNMENT: Defense can use ALL fronts and simply Know your Gap Responsibility with each PRESSURE 4 Man PRESSURE #2 ASSIGNMENT: DLine stunts & Backer movements = use to create confusion for OLINE 5 Man PRESSURE Single Backer Blitz = use to bring simple pressure with BACKERS 5 Man ZONE PRESSURE Zone Blitz = use to create overload pressure with ZONE COVER 6-7 Man PRESSURE Multiple Backer Blitz = use to bring MAXIMUM PRESSURE #3 ACTION: Take correct first steps & READ (trust) your KEYS This is a TEAM DEFENSE = DO YOUR JOB! BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES Line - Responsible for gap control and pass rush based on either alignment and technique, or game/stunt. Attack Line Backers- Responsible for gap control and pass coverage based on keys or stunt. DB s - Be AGGRESSIVE vs. run (we want to play the run with 9 defenders) while playing sound vs pass.
