Act no. 319/2002 Z. z. National defence act of the SR 1: Scope of application Regulation of the responsibilities in the area of defence, determines tasks of governmental institutions in the area of defence, allocates responsibilities if these tasks are violated. The Slovak Republic is from a political and security- related view an inseparable part of the euroatlantic area. 8
2 National defence Is a compendium of measures to keep peace. A compendium of measures of the Slovak Republic to fight against terrorism. Armed forces will intervene at the state borders in case of an uncontrollable state of war. During a war, a national headquarter of defence will be established (president of the Slovak Republic, head of the government of the Slovak Republic, deputy head of the national security council of the Slovak Republic). The national defence of the Slovak Republic is conducted in accordance with international agreements. 9
3 Preperation for national defence A compendium of measures, which are used by governmental institutions to guarantee the tasks of national defence. Governmental organs perform control and mobilisation exercises. Part of the preperation for national defence is an educational process in elementary and secondary schools. Armed and executive forces, civil defence, fire brigades and emergency and rescue services.
