Introduction to the unit Focus on knowledge and understanding Covers the following areas: Risk assessment Legislation that applies to their work as a dance teacher Promoting a safe dance environment Recognising poor posture Identifying and taking action in relation to injuries Hydration and nutrition Teaching different age groups
Why is this unit important? Safe dance practice a common theme in dance qualifications Learners will be aware of potential risks and know how to deal with them IDTA will be assured that learners know about safe dance
What are we asking learners to do? Submit a portfolio containing evidence Evidence will be provided to cover all the areas in the unit
Why a portfolio? Testing knowledge and understanding Giving learners the opportunity to show examples from their own experience Portfolio can be made up over a period of time and flexible to suit learners
Examiner report form and guidance Detailed guidance covering all the requirements of the unit split into: Learning outcomes what the learner must know, understand or be able to do Assessment criteria how the learner demonstrates their knowledge, understanding and skills Report form covers each assessment criterion Learners must meet ALL criteria to pass the unit
