Barriers for LARC Patients with dysmenorrhoea/menorrhagia Who don t want hormonal contraception Who want regular cycles (use of kyleena/Jaydess) Patients scared of coil moving in body anatomy shown with risk of perforation explained Internet research Difficult to take time off work to arrange counselling then insertion
Coil Clinic IUCD fitter with nurse or HCA Pre-IUCD fitting slip given to patients with following advice : contraception/have breakfast/ bring a pad/ planning to stay in surgery up to 30 mins post insertion Patients booked in coil clinic after telephone consultation with coil fitter Flexibility around patients
Post Fitting Post IUD leaflet given with details of IUD used/ sx of infection/ advice on contraception post fitting Advice on self check at 6 weeks Patients are offered to call surgery for a telephone assessment if any issue following IUCD insertion Patients encouraged to write experience on NHS choice website
Inter-practice referral Receptionists at Spitafields practice email me directly Albion send referral All patients are called back within 5 days between 12-1 pm Patients are also offered to contact me if any issue post fitting IMPROVING Inter-practice referral : To give our surgery details to patients to arrange telephone consultation and cancel appointment To share video before fitting
