Errors in complete denture construction can arise from technical mistakes in the clinic or laboratory, as well as material deficiencies. The use of intraoral selective grinding techniques like articulating paper and occlusal indicator wax can help correct errors in occlusion and balance for better denture function.

  1. College of Dentistry Department of Prosthetic Dentistry Al-Mustansiriyah University Insertion of complete dentures Sources of errors in finished complete denture: 1- Technical errors in the clinic, e.g. centric off. 2- Technical errors in the laboratory, e.g. broken cast. 3- Deficiencies of the material used in denture construction, e.g. expired acrylic.

  2. College of Dentistry Department of Prosthetic Dentistry Al-Mustansiriyah University Intraoral selective grinding: 1-Articulating paper: Disadvantages: - Cusps who are not in premature contact may be colored. - Not recording the fossa. -Difficult manipulation. 2-Occlusal indicator wax

  3. College of Dentistry Department of Prosthetic Dentistry Al-Mustansiriyah University Rules of selective grinding: 1-Never grind from the functional cusps which are upper palatal cusps and lower buccal cusps. 2- If it is necessary, grind from the inclines of the cusps.

  4. College of Dentistry Department of Prosthetic Dentistry Al-Mustansiriyah University Rules of selective grinding: 3-We must deepen the fossa rather than removing the cusp unless it interfere with the balancing and working occlusion.

  5. College of Dentistry Department of Prosthetic Dentistry Al-Mustansiriyah University Correction of errors on balancing side Premature balancing side contacts are reduced by grinding on the lingual inclines of the lower buccal cusps
