INTRODUCTION

Combined Civil Service Group-1(TNPSC):

The Group-1 exams are conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission

(TNPSC) and aim to select individuals for top-level government positions within the

state

Steps/Stages in the Selection Process for Group 1:

The Group-1 exams take place in three stages:

Preliminary Exam (Group-1):

1.    It’s an objective-type paper with multiple-choice questions.

2.    The exam is for 300 marks in total, and the minimum passing score is:

·      (i) Reserved category (OBC, SC/ST) – (90/300) marks.

·      (ii) General category – (120/300) marks.

There is no negative marking

SELECTION PROCESS FOR

GROUP 1:

Main Exam & Interview:

Candidates will take the exam in a descriptive (written) format.

•

It consists of four papers:

a) Paper I – Tamil Eligibility Test (100 marks):

Minimum passing score is (40/100) marks.

The overall ranking will not include the marks for Paper I.

b) Paper II, III & IV – General studies (250 marks – for each paper):

Interview & record for 100 marks (not included for qualifying marks).

Reserved category (OBC
