  2. 74 days & Counting Senior Check List 1. Make sure that you get your name on the list for the April 29thFBISD District Decision Day 1. Turn in your College & Scholarship form and complete your graduation survey ( an email will be sent today with instructions) 2. Make sure that you meet Graduation Requirements 3. Make sure that you meet College Ready requirements and if you do not then schedule to take the TSI Assessment. 4. Bacterial Meningitis shot is not an option 5. Senior Activities, Exemption Activities, and I am College Ready t-shirts and drawing qualifications

April 29th FBISD District Decision Day Make sure that you get your name on the list for the April 29thFBISD District Decision Day Senior Decision Day April 29 at Mercer Stadium To celebrate the Class of 2016 and their post-high school journey, the FBISD College and Career Readiness Department is hosting a district wide Decision Day celebration at Mercer Stadium on April 29, 2016 in conjunction with National Decision Day. Students will hear from guest speakers and college admissions representatives, and can win prizes, including laptops, dorm items, and other resources useful in college. Who should attend? Seniors who have been accepted and have made a decision to attend a 2-year, 4-year, military, tech or trade school and who meet the district eligibility to attend senior events and field trips: The district eligibility criterion states that students must not have any of the following infractions below: - Failed an EOC test - Level 3 discipline infraction - Not on track to graduate (missing a credit or be enrolled in O lab) In order to attend eligible students must complete the following by 3:00 pm April 1st: Complete at least questions 1 and 2 of the EHS Graduation Survey (the complete survey is due May 4th) Turn in a permission slip to the CCR Center They will be passed out in your English classes. When and where is it? Friday, April 29 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Mercer Stadium Buses will pick up eligible EHS seniors at 8:50am ..

Graduation Requirements -Testing The State of Texas requires all students in the class of 2016 to score a Level II satisfactory on Algebra I, Biology, English I and II, and US History to graduate from high school. If you have any questions see your counselor or Ms. Novosad in Room 434. The next testing opportunity will be at the end of this month here at Elkins. Look for signs around the school for the exact schedule.

  5. What is TSI & Why is it Needed? The state of Texas spends $200 million a year re-teaching students that are not college ready when they go to college http://ctle.hccs.edu/gcpass/TSIPracticeTests/tsipracticetests.htm ( 18 seconds) http://ctle.hccs.edu/gcpass/TSIPracticeTests/math/math.htm ( 2 minutes Math) are required to take the TSI Assessment unless you are already exempt to determine your readiness for college-level work. If you are an incoming college student in Texas, you college-level course that matches your skill level or be placed in the appropriate developmental course or intervention to improve your skills and prepare you for success in college-level courses. Based on how you perform, you may either be enrolled in a

TSI Exempt and do not have to take test if You are exempt from the TSI if you meet one of the following: SAT scores minimum qualifying score of 1070 composite - with 500 Critical Reading and 500 Math. Scores must be within the past 5 years ACT scores minimum qualifying score of 23 composite, with 19 English and 19 Math. Scores must be within the past 5 years

  7. How and Where to take the TSI Test Attention: Students going to WCJC or HCC for TSI Testing, Must complete the 1. Appropriate college application @ (www.applytexas.org) or 1. WCJC $29 - http://www.wcjc.edu/Admissions/admissions-and- registration/ 2. HCC $29 - http://www.hccs.edu/district/students/apply/ 2. And, pre-assessment through the school you are testing at BEFORE sending them to test! See websites above with info. Neither site is really set up for this and usually requires the student to do these two items in advance of scheduling an appointment to test. Blinn College requires a specific test score reporting method. Stop by the CCR Center for instructions.

If you have insurance then your shot will be paid for. If you do not have insurance then I will help you find an inexpensive or free option.

  10. Upcoming Scholarships Remember Scholarship reporting is due 1 month before graduation - May 4th Why not brag on yourself? Why leave money on the table because you have not applied for scholarships?
