Change of Major Bren School of ICS Guidelines and FAQs
Change of Major Policy For Newly Admitted Students The Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences is NOT accepting any new student change of majors. Students are asked to meet our change of major requirements and then apply for consideration.
Change of Major Policy For Newly Admitted Students: FAQs Can a new freshman change majors? New freshmen must matriculate to their major of admission. Then, they may pursue our change of major criteria at www.changeofmajor.uci.edu.
Change of Major Policy For Newly Admitted Students: FAQs Can I enroll in your classes this Fall quarter? Our courses are restricted to majors only to accommodate our new admitted students in the fall. Open seats, if available, will be released to non- majors after the Labor Day holiday. The best time to take our courses to meet the change of major requirements: Winter, Spring, or Summer
Change of Major Policy For Newly Admitted Students: FAQs Can I have someone tell me what classes I can take in the summer/fall? This information can only be provided during summer orientation. All students must go to mandatory summer orientation. Course registration will also take place at this time. Change of majors must go to the summer orientation of their school. We are unable to review your coursework and provide advising.
Change of Major Policy For Newly Admitted Students: FAQs Who can I talk to about student experience in ICS? Please visit our information booth in the ICS/Engineering Quad and chat with one of our student advisors.
Change of Major Policy For Newly Admitted Students: FAQs Can a new transfer student change majors? Transfer students are encouraged to accept admission to a computing major they are directly admitted into (instead of pursuing a change of major) and make efficient progress to degree. If a transfer student wishes to pursue the change of major, he/she may view the change of major criteria at www.changeofmajor.uci.edu. Please note that our change of major policies include a unit cap. Transfer admits may exceed the major s unit cap and exceptions may not be granted.
Change of Major Policy For Newly Admitted Students: FAQs Can I have someone review my transcript and tell me what credit I have? Due to the large number of admitted students, we cannot provide this service at this time. All admitted students must go to mandatory summer orientation. Your transcripts will be reviewed and evaluated for course credit at this time. Change of majors must go to the summer orientation of their school. We are unable to review your coursework and provide advising. Your academic counselors will review your transcript and provide an evaluation.
