  3. Pharma Challenges & Business Cases

  4. Pharma Comp-A-> Growth resulted in Challenges Founded in 1950, privately owned company COMP-A is a leader in reproductive medicine and women s health, and in specialty areas within gastroenterology and urology. Company is headquartered in Switzerland and employs more than 6,500 people worldwide. 77 Entities in 45 countries (some multi function) 13 Manufacturing 7 R&D 43 M&S 4 Financial Loops 4 Holding Entities have a mix of Oracle, SAP, Navision or other ERP solutions. A very complex as-is landscape. Organic growth over years , hence complex business models (e.g. 91 types of product flows for FG only), lack of data and process standardization.

  5. MDM Challenges for Pharma

  6. Cases examples Regulatory Hurdles Many Challenges to Information Integration in the Pharmaceutical industry Multiple Reorganizations Complex Product Development Long product Development Cycles Rapid Change Distributed Business Model Key Key Challenges Challenges Multiple mergers Evolving Science Warehousing as a First Line approach has struggled keep pace Move to a distributed business model has been tipping point for most High Failure rate ( Attrition ) Cost of Traditional Technical Approaches Patchwork Quilt of source systems Heterogeneous Data Formats Above report is collected from a MDM Expert s Consultancy

  7. How bad is Pharma Data ?

  8. MDM Domain Cases- Pharma examples Vendors-> Suppliers Customer -> Buyer Customer-> Purchasing Stakeholders (IDN) Customer-> Order Purchasing Influencers (IDN) Business Partner Business Partner Hierarchy ( Critical ) Finance Finance Accounts - Hierarchy Material / Product (Sales) Material / Product (R&D) Employees / HR Reference Data Locations (Warehouse/ Operations / Trail region ) (with or without Graph ) Trials Regulatory Data Management eg. IDMP, FDA, PQ/CMC .. Above report is collected from a MDM Expert s Consultancy

  9. MDM Domain Cases Pharma Aspects Location services for operations Location data is unique in this regard, as it isn t particularly useful on its own; you need to combine it with some other type of information to gain improved analytics, forecasting and business intelligence to informing larger strategic initiatives like Physical Asset Data + Location Data, Product Data + Location Data, Customer Data + Location Data & Supplier Data + Location Data Global to local company structures MDM acts as a central HUB for master data irrespective of any other system's data. It is always good to store global data in MDM and from there Global data can manage, maintain and distributed smoothly to various systems with linkages to local data as per the business needs Globalization, M&A are forcing the need to have consistent data synchronized across the enterprise. Regulatory compliance is highlighting the need to have the data tagged with all its peripheral enablers (policies, definitions, domain, business rules, metadata, quality, governance, ownership, security, etc.). Performance Management & Business Analytics won t thrive without accurate, consistent, and reliable data. Incorporation partners for R & D data Following are the key elements in this space to drive the benefits. Investigator & Site Selection for Clinical Trials , Speedy Patient Onboarding, Clinical Data Integration, Molecule to Market & New Drug Commercialization Regulatory Approval Forms Submissions Data Exploit centralised product information (MDM) to overhaul the way they create routine documents. Process automation rates of 90%+ could enable regulatory submissions and patient content to be generated 10 times faster than they are today For standard application forms, where no customised tweaking is required, 100% of the document compilation could be automated, accurately matched to the given market and target language. The expectation is that the time savings will be at least tenfold: so where new content preparation has previously taken 50 man days, it will now take just five. These are phenomenal efficiency gains, offering to significantly accelerate companies speed to market while freeing up experts to focus their time on higher purposes. 14. SAP MDG Vs Informatica MDM Vs EBX SAP MDG Detail/Supported Tibco EBX Informatica MDM Comments SAP Lori EBXGO - (Android & IOS) + KPI s Dashboards Mobile APP NA Role based security Role Based security, Data services security Through SAM, attribute & data level security Security LDAP, SSO Integration with enterprise security systems Collaborative Workflow Custom authentication like enterprise directory (LDAP, Active Directory) supported, SSO Supports third party security services through SAM (MDM HUB) Supported Supported Supported Not specific in number but with it s in built In-memory engine delivers high performance with millions of data processing Not specific but definitely supported millions of data with high performance Used by large enterprises with huge data volumes User/Data Volume Has Modules for:: Business Partner, Vendor, Customer, Material, Finance. Reference Data MDM is not there. None out of box. The standard Modules and Reference Data MDM are made available by Partners MDM Data Domains, out of box None Extension for new data domains Easy to add, but challenges on Workflow and UI Very tough to add new data domain, lengthy and very costly Very easy and quick Above report is collected from a MDM Expert s Consultancy

  15. SAP MDG Vs Informatica MDM Vs EBX SAP MDG Detail/Supported Tibco EBX Informatica MDM Comments Offers tool for Workflow define and integration , but is highly technical and complex Basic workflows are available inbuilt and small enhancements possible Very easy to make. Can be done on fly even after go live Process Workflows Highly flexible. Each user can even make his own screen layouts You can make horizontal and vertical views and even mix them up. Very easy to add shortcut menu items and non technical approach to it. Difficult to build nice UI and is highly technical process too. Not easy to add shortcut menu items Offer horizontal and vertical views like EBX but less flexible to mix them up. Not easy to add shortcut menu items UI Layout and Menu Items Out of box not there. But it is available as a free Add On for FREE from a partner. Allows to build custom contents for Help on the fly any time with text, images, links etc No option for Help pages, out of box. It has to be custom development. Defined for existing modules. But no out of box solution for new data models Help Pages for Each UI screen Data Exchange modules is available to provide large no of options to import data and also export data in various forms like excel, xml etc. It allows complex data filtering etc too No out of box good solution, with some limited functionality over data manager It has functionaity to import and export using templates for standard modules. Mass Data Imports and Exports Above report is collected from a MDM Expert s Consultancy

  16. SAP MDG Vs Informatica MDM Vs EBX Post 2017, SAP has invested heavily on MDG Most common data objects are built in MDG with almost full scale features like in SAP ERP, which is extremly complex and reflects true business needs Material / Finance Vendor / Customer Activating these modules with default screens is hardly a matter of 2 days SAP MDG can be used as independent MDM without even buying SAP ERP It s data change capture, replication framework is extremly powerful Cost wise it s pritty cheap with decent discount; about 5000 for 5000 master data records and no cost for software on cloud Workflow is much easy to setup then other competitors Above report is collected from a MDM Expert s Consultancy

  17. Evaluation Methodology Score the products using MDM functional use cases Conduct a proof-of-concept Architecture and design evaluation Miscellaneous -- Gartner s survey, pricing, support, customer references

  18. Proof of Concept Below is the criteria for PoC purpose A few data models from each domain or one complete model from any domain. Sample data to support the data model simulating the features. A basic MDM features and usage Prioritized use cases that need to be evaluated by the outcome of the PoC. PoC will be implemented within the stipulated time Following the implementation of PoC, a walkthrough of the same will be provided Following the PoC, development effort can be revised it takes to implement the desired solution

  19. Project Accelerators & Budget Savers

  20. EBX Accelerators Just some relevant ones are mentioned We have a module available for this and is integrated with EBX Business Glossary A TIBCO partner is busy making them, very similar to a professional ERP solutions, that can easily integrate with complex systems like SAP, SAP MDG etc. Modules for:: Business Partner, Vendor, Customer, Material, Finance, Reference Data Data Exchange This will be published soon for usage for FREE by the partner to be used by clients and client is FREE to enhance it further to their needs. This will deliver savings of Multi millions and shorten Go Live times 10 times. This module enables mass data uploads and downloads in different formats and it available for a small price from TIBCO itself. This plugin allows to store images and URL, etc to cover business needs of locations etc. & this is available for FREE. Such a solution not available in other MDMs and can easily cost more then 200K to build it. Digital Asset Manager

  21. Success Factor Decisions by Large Ones

  22. Key things, that goes with MDM Large Pharma uses Virtualization and Caches Data to Accelerate Time Sensitive Data Integration By creating a shared services team dedicated to data integration and delivery, Pfizer has dramatically improved the consistency and quality of project delivery. Building and leveraging shared infrastructure (such as tools and capacity) has enabled it to significantly reduce the related software licensing and computing capacity costs. SOA-Compliance Is an Important Requirement Our SOA adoption has accelerated in recent years. Specifically, we use SOA approaches to increase reuse of existing components, save development time, and cut costs. So, we strive to use SOA methods and technologies whenever possible. Old Extract & Mart-based Approaches Can't Meet New Requirements Unfortunately, these three approaches may not be entirely effective with our customers. Because our customers must make decisions based on near real-time data, they often can't afford the extra development time required for building and testing custom coding, file extracts, and data marts. Forcing our business users to wait extra months for new solutions to be developed has a huge impact on how quickly we get new drugs to market. Further, typical data mart/replication architectures don't easily fit into our new SOA strategy. New data integration projects must be SOA-enabled from the start, so they can deliver value moving forward. Functional and Technical Specification For Data Exposure We already knew we could use our ETL/data mart tools to successfully combine the data required into a mart. Unfortunately, putting the relational data into a mart was only half the job. We still needed to get this data out of the mart and into the portal in the form of a Web Service. We found this requires manual coding and an additional toolset. What's more, to achieve the real-time delivery requirement, we found we needed to achieve unrealistic refresh rates using highly complex change data capture techniques.

  23. Move Semantics Upstream Business Objects Consistent Centralised Semantics Business Customers DB1 Cognos Single Virtual Data View DB2 Dashboards MDM Tool Excel Datamart 1 Spotfire Datamart 2 Other Tools Cache Systems SharePoint Caching Dramatically Increases Performance Data Feeds Excel

  24. How EBX Fits Your RFP the best !!

  25.
