Campus Fall 2021 Update: Vaccination Requirements and Recommendations
In response to Governor Newsom's directive, California K-12 teachers and state agencies, including healthcare settings, must verify vaccination status. The California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office encourages vaccination for students, staff, and faculty without making it mandatory. CSU Stanislaus postpones reopening plans to October 1 to enforce mandatory vaccination. A subcommittee recommends all individuals accessing campus facilities to show proof of vaccination or undergo weekly COVID testing by October 1, 2021.

CA Chancellors Office Update Governor Newsom called for all state agencies and health care settings to verify vaccination status of all personnel. Governor Newsom also called for all California K-12 teachers working on campuses to be vaccinated for Covid-19 or be tested regularly. CCCCO is encouraging all students, staff and faculty to get vaccinated. Neither the CCCCO nor the Board of Governors can mandate vaccinations. CSU Stanislaus will be delaying their reopening plans to October 1 in order to fully implement their mandatory vaccination decision. The CCCCO has urged all local districts to exercise their authority to adopt vaccination mandates with flexibility where vaccines are not possible due to medical conditions or sincerely held religious beliefs. 2
Recommendation The Return to Campus Subcommittee met and made the following recommendation to the President s Council: All employees and all students accessing district and college facilities (including in-person classes, student support services, or any other indoor on-campus activity) will need to provide evidence of their first vaccine dose by October 1, 2021. Employees and students who are not vaccinated (including those with religious exemptions or eligible documented medical conditions) will be required to provide proof of covid testing once a week. Students and staff will be provided with free testing options. 3
