  1. Board of Advocates Off-Campus Advocacy: Spring 2019 AES Session October 30th

  2. Tryouts & Coaching Sessions Tryouts: Sunday, November 11th Sign up for tryout time slots on the BOA website and submit your application to boa.tryout@gmail.com. Tryouts will be between 5-10 minutes. For Mock Trial - prepare either an opening argument, a closing argument or cross-examination. For Moot Court - have 5-7 minutes of material prepared, you will likely be asked 1-2 questions during your speech. Look to the specific team you are trying out for specifics.

  3. Why tryout? 1 hour of class credit 5 BOA Competition points for being on a team (7 for prestige teams) Networking: Coaches, Guest Judges, Competition Judges Build your skills Order of the Barristers Make friends and have fun!

  4. The Tryout Process Attend the AES Session. Sign up for tryout slots. On tryout day, confirm your tryout schedule and attend all tryouts you signed up for. After you have completed all tryouts, fill out your team preference list. Go home. Results announced 24 hours after the 11/11 Tryout.*

  5. Shadow Program Fill whatever role the coach needs such as: Playing witness roles, Preparing arguments for practice rounds, Serving as a juror/judge, etc. Observe the team s practices Get valuable advocacy experience While shadows do not travel with the team and are not eligible to receive class credit, they do receive BOA points for their service (2 competition points, 1 service point)

  6. Team Commitment Cards Given by the coaches during the tryout. Guarantees a spot to the applicant IF the applicant prefs that team 1st. Guarantee by the team to the applicant, NOT vice versa.
