Ancient Egypt Mindfulness Week: Create Calming Artworks Inspired by Egyptian Patterns
This week, Year 4 students will explore Ancient Egypt while incorporating mindfulness into their learning. Artwork creation is emphasized as a calming activity to promote peace during stressful times. Students are encouraged to draw inspiration from Ancient Egyptian patterns and artists like Lawrence Alma Tadema. By creating repeated patterns through drawing or collage, students can express themselves artistically while also finding relaxation and tranquility. The goal is to foster a peaceful environment and enhance mindfulness through the creative process. Mrs. Coulston encourages students to share their completed artwork via Seesaw for feedback and appreciation.

To create your design you can draw or collage the pattern. Collage: Use coloured paper to fold into a concertina (backwards and forwards), draw an image and cut. Open out and arrange on backing paper. Fold paper, draw a single image cut and arrange on paper. Glue everything in place once you re happy with how the pattern repeats.
I hope you feel relaxed and peaceful whilst making your artwork. Please send a photo to me via seesaw. Thank you. Mrs Coulston.
