The workshop in Kampala, Uganda on May 2nd, 2018, highlighted the challenges related to the right to nationality. The discussions covered the legal framework, strengths, and gaps, as well as practical issues surrounding nationality in Uganda. Key issues include low birth registration rates, lack of national ID cards until recently, porous borders, and granting nationality to refugees. Both domestic and international legal frameworks were examined to identify gaps and areas for improvement in ensuring the right to nationality for all individuals in Uganda.
