Development of unconventional resources like natural gas has reshaped the global energy landscape. This working group aims to identify best practices to address environmental concerns arising from the increased supply of natural gas. Members will collaborate on topics such as water management, emissions, social impacts, and regulatory standards, with a focus on sharing information and delivering findings to relevant stakeholders.

  1. Natural gas Addressing Environmental Concerns Sustainability Committee Working group 2 Kota Kinabalu, 8-9 September 2015

  2. The goal The development of Unconventional Resources has fundamentally changed the energy picture of the world. At one time natural gas was expected to be in decline leading to high prices and a certain transition to renewable energy. Improved economics for natural gas exploration that resulted from horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing has led to an abundance of natural gas supply, lower prices and a new picture for the future of power generation. Following the rising supply of low cost natural gas there has been considerable environmental attention creating a perception that unconventional resource development will result in significant and negative impacts on natural resources (Water, Air, Land, Etc.). The goal is to address the important environmental concerns through the identification of industry best practices that help address or resolve these concerns. FUELING THE FUTURE 2
