A Unique Approach to Ion Collider Development
Join Dmitry Shwartz and the teachers' team on a journey to develop an ion collider concept through case studies. Dive into topics like linear optics, magnets, and more, solving problems step by step with group participation. Get divided into two groups with individual tutors, culminating in final presentations of conceptual collider solutions. Don't hesitate to ask questions and use provided lecture materials for guidance. Start your learning journey now!

Introduction to Case Studies Dmitry Shwartz on behalf of the teachers team
What is the final goal? We You will try to make a concept for an ion collider with given very general target parameters.
How we will proceed? Throughout the course we will solve simple problems, more or less following the lectures topics. Thus step-by-step different knowledges necessary for collider development will be (re)covered. The topics for problems are the following: Linear optics Magnets and technology Introduction to colliders Luminosity Nonlinear dynamics Electron cooling
How we will proceed? (cont.) We will divide you into two groups. Each group will get the set of parameters for collider construction, and a tutor. Every case study starts with short (5 -10 ) introduction common for all groups and set of problems to be solved. Further work goes separately in groups, each accompanied by tutor. Please use lectures materials at the school Indico page: https://indico.jinr.ru/event/752/timetable/
What will be at the end? Two final case studies each group will try to figure out the conceptual solution for the collider and to prepare slides for your ideas presentation. The very final time before school closing is reserved for your presentations and discussion.
Ask questions! Do not hesitate to ask your questions throughout the whole school. We are here to share our knowledge with you! You can start right now (:
