The Problem The Uskov family is trying to hide a terrible secret Sasha Uskov, a 25 year-old, forged an IOU and didn t pay it back What should the family do? Pay the dues and save honor? Or don t pay and go for a trial? Keep in mind Sasha has no education or parental guidance He committed crimes in the past

The Solution While Sasha listens to his uncles He doesn t believe he s a criminal He takes his offense lightly and doesn t care about his future The uncles decide to spare Sasha of punishment, as long as he works with Ivan Sasha is relieved, then is reminded of an event He bribes Ivan Markovitch for 100 rubles Once again, he s in debt Sasha finally realizes he s a criminal
