FOUNDED 23RD FEB 1905 Paul Harris (lawyer), Sylvester Schiele (coal dealer), Gus Loehr (mining engineer) & Hiram Shorey (merchant tailor) met in Gus office in the Unity Building at 127 North Dearborn St, Chicago. Sylvester was the 1st Rotary club president. Rotary Founder Paul Harris 16 Clubs formed the National Organization in 1910 Rotary became International in 1911 with Winnipeg, Canada s Charter with Paul Harris as RI s 1st President

FIVE AVENUES OF SERVICE We Implement the Object of Rotary through the Club Leadership Plan and the Five Avenues of Service: Youth Service Vocational Service Club Service Community Service International Service

YOUTH SERVICE Youth Service recognizes the importance of empowering youth and young professionals through leadership development programs such as Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, and Rotary Youth Exchange. Rotaract is a section of Rotary for young people ages 18 and older which helps develop leadership and professional skills, exchange ideas with community leaders, and have fun through service. Interact is a section of Rotary for young leaders ages 12- 18. The aim of Interact is to energize and inspire these young leaders through service and encourage them to become responsible global citizens. Our club is proud to sponsor the Pepin Academies of Pasco Interact Club.

VOCATIONAL SERVICE Vocational service calls on every Rotarian to work with integrity and contribute their expertise to the problems and needs of society. This can be accomplished by: Talking about your profession in your club and learning about your fellow members 'occupations Using your skills and expertise to help the community Practicing your profession with integrity Help young people achieve their career goals Guide and encourage others in their professional development Of the things we think, say, or do: consider the Four-Way Test Volunteer on a service project and use your skills to serve others

CLUB SERVICE This avenue of service focuses on making clubs strong. This is accomplished through an active membership. Club service tasks include: membership engagement and recruitment, public relations/communication, club administration, committee memberships, and those other activities necessary for achieving success with the club.

COMMUNITY SERVICE Community Service encourages every Rotarian to find ways to improve the quality of life for people in their communities and to serve the public interest. Some of the service projects our club has participated in include: Metropolitan Ministries, Coastal Cleanups, and Cook for Kids. We are lucky to have Ronnie Bryant as our Club Service Chair!

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE International Service exemplifies our global reach in promoting peace and understanding. We support this service avenue by sponsoring or volunteering on international projects, seeking partners abroad, and more. Two programs that further international service are the group study exchange and youth exchange The six areas of focus for Rotary International are Promoting Peace; Fighting Disease; Providing Clean Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Saving Mothers and Children; Supporting Education; Growing Local Economies.
