LESSONS FROM THE HOLOCAUST Change can be a good thing at times but in the case of the Holocaust, change such as that should never be accepted. Through all the change they went through there were many mixed feelings and emotions towards everything. Feelings such as despair and sorrow, and in some cases, hope and faith that things will change.
Image on next slide PRODUCT IDEA Our product is a mural that we are planning on placing it in the hall on the way to the cafeteria here at Robertsville. The mural will have a Jewish family in the foreground and in the background, there will be Nazi propaganda on one side and peace and hope on the other.
SYMBOLISM In our mural the main colors that are used are yellow, red, and blue. Yellow because it represents hope, happiness, positivity, optimism, honor, intellect, and joy. Red because it symbolizes war, anger, and religious fervor. Blue represents serenity, stability, inspiration, wisdom, and health. We also plan to put the Star of David into our mural which is supposed represent martyrdom and heroism Symbolism of the quote can also be seen in the product as a reference to the "barbed wire," and "things blooming." As well as the visual representations that can be taken from the drawing The swallow within the drawing represents resilience.
BUDGET PLANNING Can of primer paint 400 square ft per can of paint. 1 gallon of paint costs $15 - $20 dollars Acrylic paint- 2- 3 square ft per jug of paint and $5 of one jug of paint Rental space- mural sizes vary around 100 square ft - 160 square ft. They average cost amount being around $4,000, the minimum being $2,000 Painter s usually charge anywhere from $50 - $100 per hour. Over coat is about the same as a regular can of primer paint ($15 - $20) Brushes are at least $50 for a pact of good brushes. Total estimate (with 8% tax): $928.80 Total budget (with wiggle room): $3,000.00 As far as how we get the money, we would talk to the school board about doing some sort of fundraiser for the construction of this said product.
If we were to paint a mural, we could paint one in the school by the cafeteria so future generations that attend here could have a chance to remember the Holocaust, but we could also make a mural somewhere in the city so people who don't attend the school can have chance to view the mural as well. We can make sure that future generations know about the mural by putting out a newspaper or a website where they can learn about the lessons of the Holocaust. ENDURANCE PLANNING
PROJECT REFLECTIONS: WHAT WENT RIGHT AND WHAT WENT WRONG Our biggest issue at first was communication. However, we were able to meet up during the weekend to solve the issue. After all that, we did not have too many problems with communication. But the most major issue was the product. Our product had originally been planned and thought out completely, but when the drawing was close to being finished, something had gone wrong, and the drawing did not save. Alia had to stay up all night trying to redo the drawing
