  1. Progression Module 2024-25 Unit 1:You and Your Career CAT 1.1 Career Action Plan (CAP) A How to Guide

  2. CAT 1.1: CAP Assessment Criteria 1.1 Produce a career action plan using the template provided. Where am I now? What career options have I considered? Do I have an alternative plan? What is my Action Plan? Task 1: Read the Assessment Criteria so you understand what you need to do. CAT 1.1 Produce a Personal Career Action Plan using the template provided. Student Tutor Research into career planning has been undertaken. CAP template completed personal to the individual s career choices. Career appropriate, realistic and achievable actions and targets are included. The career action plan is presented appropriately as a formal document.

  3. CAT 1.1: CAP Template Task 2: Download the Career Action Plan template from the Progression Module webpage. Save the document to your own files. Download the Career Action Plan template here

  4. CAT 1.1: Career Research TASK 3: Undertake some careers research. For example, you could take an online skills test, complete a SWOT analysis or research your career options online. See slide 7 for some examples of websites you could use for research. There is lots of useful information on the Progression Module webpage and activities in the Unit 1 booklet to help you. To open the Unit 1 Booklet online, use password provided in your welcome email or ask your Tutor

  5. CAT 1.1: Writing your CAP Task 4: Produce your own career action plan using the template. To help you produce your plan you should: Look at the Example Career Action Plan on page 11 or 12 of the Unit 1 booklet Refer to the Careers Research you have undertaken e.g. skills test, web research etc. Refer to the Assessment Criteria on slide 2.

  6. CAT 1.1: Example Career Action Plans To help you to write your own Career Action Plan, example CAPs are available in the Unit 1 booklet for a HE route and a work-based route
